Will’s Food Diary

Came here with Gracie – I do keep track of how good the restaurants are when I hang out with different people and the particular dietary restrictions . Anyways Super nice people here.

The tsangwich – 3.5/5

1st – I liked this sandwhich. The rice surprisingly adds a little bit of a not creamy not fluffy but like a softness to the burrito which is p inviting. The wrap is reminiscent of a mission style burrito in the bay area not quite but it makes me think of it. (Bay area baddies will know what I mean) Slight spicyness (maybe a little lighter than a jalpeno) The sauce/accoutrements/toppings were nice not too strong or messy but not too subtle either. The shredded meat was surprisingly a plus here for me. I usually hate it because it’s so dry or stringy but here it’s flavourful and the texture actually complements the soft rice i mentioned earlier. With that being said I wasn’t in love with the flavour the rice was a 1/3rd of the sandwich and lacked something to give it a little oomf. if you like spice and appreciate that than this probably more your thing.

The sandwich of the week – chashu pork – 4/5

The brioche bun is a tad bit short of deserving of a chefs kiss. It’s slightly sweet with some nice texture. it’s a little off but maybe because i ate this second and it got a bit wet. The chashu pork was really nice. Pretty hard to find a place that doesn’t just obliterate this piece of meat. Maybe i have high standards either way I like this chashu pork in this sandwich.

The lettuce is soaked in this vinaigrette-esque like sauce (could very well just be lemon juice and sugar) that really goes well with the salty and savory of the pork

the tomatoes don’t hurt it but it don’t help it much maybe it gives it that little bit of freshness. I didn’t feel like overwhelmed with salt after eating this like I normally would when consuming chashu pork. There is also this other salad like thing in there it might be guac idk i forgot but either way it was hitting. A lot of like freshness added to the sandwhich was pretty nice. I think the brioche while good wasn’t really doing much here it felt like out of place but idk what else would make sense here. like i would think the brioche with its airyness and sweetness is good when culling the overt strong beef or savory ness of a very succulent insides(via a juicy patty). Pretty complex flavour profile in this sandwich I liked it but maybe Jm just too dumb to really appreciate it to its fullest. I liked it though each bite I was having a little fun tasting more and more as i went along.

Price – 2.8/5

It’s not a cheap place but it’s pretty good and I wouldn’t say it’s expensive. like it’s a tad pricey but like it’s p good. but it’s not filling. It’s def on the more luxurious side but I like this place and would come again.

Experience – 4/5

slight bias because the owner or someone who i would presume is the owner (they used honorifics and pronouns that would made me assume so) was kind to us and sheltered us from the cold weather. Apparently they are expanding. P easy ordering. no frills and to the point which I LOVE. Like no ambiguity of what to get. you come here? you’re getting a sandwich. I’m sick of these jack of all trades.

This is a pretty random place for a sandwich shop ngl. Buts it’s hella convenient like right next to the station.

Everyday I wonder what is it I have to do tomorrow so that I have free time later and then I realize that I’ve been doing that for months. How often have I stopped to smell the roses on my own accord? Anyways I appreciate when my friends just make plans and add me to it. Makes it easier for me to go out. I’m rated 460 in chess rapid atm but I am 2000 in puzzles on lichess. Idk what that means but I like to think I am on the edge of a breakthrough.

also slight thing I noticed I’ve been spelling sandwich wrong all this while writing this review I always do sandwhich. it’s like when i spelled cookies coockies idk it just seems right.
