I went here with Andrew and Ethan because it was on the way home and we had to drop off Andrew’s dog because we were planning on going to another place but they said no dogs. Very fair and I would’ve done the same thing too.
Chilaquiles – 4.3/5

This was p bomb. The only reason it is not getting a higher score is the tortilla chips imo I do not like when it is like super soggy or jusst like layered on top of each other. This might be nitpicky or annoying like how can it be sauced up but not soft? There are plenty of places in california that do that. I have eaten more chilaquiles than breathes you’ve taken (hyperbole). I know chilaquiles.
Good and Respectable amount of sauce and meat. The meat was tender kind of a bit big for my preference and somewhat flavourful the sauce and beans did most of the heavy hitting in that department. (carne asade – wish they had al pastor or pernil as an option but oh well). The chips while soggy were decent not chewy not hard. it’s merely a vessel for the toppings which I guess is what they were always meant to be.
Elote – 3.3/5

you know it is very surprising to me how something with so few ingredients and like not such a difficult technique tied to it has so much variance. It truly shows how where you source your ingredients and the timing of the production can really affect the flavour.
it’s like decent but lacks that bit of umami from the butter/mayo and the sweetness from the corn and the spice from the … spices. its only not bad because its like at its core impossible to be bad. Id be impressed if a elote with the proper ingredients ever gets lower than a 3.3 tbh. so technicaly the worse elote i have ever had. still liked it though.
Tres Leches – 4/5
Ok wild I do not have a photo of the Tres leches but it is moist and there is a little bit of milk splashing around in the container it came in.
Super solid. MOIST. WET. not super sweer. nice top layer. I am almost certain its sourced from the same place that EMPANADA CITY (review incoming) gets theirs from. Just empanada city has more milk for some reason SO i prefer that one over this one.
Tacos – Pernil (Roast pork) – 4/5

Ok I will be doing a guide on how to review TACOS and other things later but a quick run down. Feel Free to challenge me.
Tortilla
Filling
Toppings
Sauce
That is what pretty much makes up the taco. Tortilla here is alright ITS NOT BAD. but it lacks some flavour and the texture was a bit dry.
Filling was Great. That roast pork was SUCCulent. FLAVourFUL. and there was an ample amount. good consisstency. nice amount of fat.
Toppings – Boring. and lk not good or fresh.
SAUCE – that red sauce I might be allergic to so idk. I do not MESS with the red suace.
Burrito – 3.8/5

It is a pretty big burrito. The rice is not great sadly. everything else (yes I know the lettuce in there looks dry) Very solid. I like the tortilla they used in this burrito. The picture really does speak for itself. What more else can you want from a burrito other than not bad rice? Solid flavour in the beans and the sauce they give you. TBH The sauce carries this burrito. The ingredients are just like baseline with some slightly above average players in the mix. so this deserves a 3.3 but the sauce they give brings it up a bit. (burrito guide incoming)
Price – 2.5/5
decent pricing actually.
The tacos are not good price at all but other stuff seems reasonable.
Experience – 3/5
it’s pretty small in there and the food takes a while so prob will call in my orders from now on. The people there are nice and allows dogs to walk in for when we order so that is cool.
It’s always nice to find a COMPETENT mexican spot in NY. I know I know very controversial thing to say. blah blah blah blah. I’ve been accosted TOO MANY times here from people telling me go here for some tacos. FOR 5$ a TACO that thing better **** my ****. with that being said for the price most places NOT WORTH. but if you have a hankerin for some Mexican. This place will do.
I am still waiting for my step 1 score to come in the mail to see if I passed or failed. NO ONE will even entertain that idea that I failed. Which on the one hand is endearing that people think so highly of me that they can’t even bother to hear my laments. On the other hand my woe knows no foe. oh well. if it turns out I passed I will be the laughing stock of the town and if it turns out I failed people will be owing me a lot of apologies.
